Rhyncholaelia glauca

Rhyncholaelia glauca

Common Name - Glaucous Beaked Laelia

This orchids resembles the aforementioned species in appearance but it is somewhat smaller and its green leaves are tinged with a deeper shade of gray . Moreover ,its flowers are smaller in size and lack the impressive frilling on the lip, which is only modestly wavy . On the otherhand ,Rhyncholaelia glauca is more willing to bloom ,namely in early and high spring .Grow the Rhyncholaelia glauca plant as you would the previous species -mounted on a wooden slab. Repotting (or,should we say ,re-mounting )should not take place too frequently -only when the plant begins to create new root tips. Faded specimens undergo a rest period -therefore they should be provided with sufficient light and air ventilation ,as well as limited watering . Rhyncholaelia glauca species was most oftern found in mexico ,but it also grows in Guatemala,Honduras and Panama.
