Oncidium phymatochilum

One of the record -breakers of the genus :its richly branched flower panicle reaches a lengths of up to 6.5 ft/2cm ! The pseudobulbs are up to 4 in /10 cm tall and bear a single, 12-in/30 -cm -long leaf . The flowers are 2 in/ 5cm or smaller in diameter and are green with brown spots. The lip is whitish and strongly resembles a violin in appearance. Cultivation is not complicated but the plant's monstrous proportions make it somewhat unwelcome in small amateur collections . O. phymatochilum blooms between May and June and was discovered in Mexico,Guatemala and Brazil.
