The genus Odontoglossum use to be very extensive but it was gradually divided in to a large number of independent genera(see the species Lemboglossum cordatum). The species O. kegeliani is one of about 50 remaining members of the orginal, ''truncated '' genus . It has flattened ,uni-to trifoliate pseudobulbs reaching lengths of 2-2.8 in/5-7 cm ; its elongated belt-shaped leaves are up to 10 in/ 25 cm long . Nice round flowers are 2.4 in/6 cm in diameter and are arranged in rich ,sometimes ,branching ,inflorescenes that reach lengths of 10 in /25 cm long . Greenish yellow tepals are covered with several large brown -and-red spots. The medium sized lip is white on the outside and brown -and -red on the inside and spots a white firmbriated edge. Grow the plant in a permeable epiphytic substrate and provide it with somewhat cooler ,humid conditions and as much light as possible throuugh out the year. It blooms in early spring and comes from Ecuador.
